Hypnotists: Take Advantage of Free Listings

In the never-ending quest to be recognized as a hypnotist or hypnotherapist and to get your business name in front of customers, utilize free listings.  The best way to find them is to do a search for professional hypnosis directories or listings.  Put your name and information in any free directory.

In addition to your website, you should have your hypnosis business name listed on at least the following sites:

  • Google My Business
  • Yelp for Business
  • Linked In
  • Facebook

These listings can lead potential customers to your website and to the products and services you offer.  Make sure to provide lots of rich content, blog posts and offers to have them coming back for more.

You can also put in competitor’s business names and see where they are listed.  If you are listing your business, do NOT put a listing and leave out the details.  Fill the profile out in it’s entirety so you present a professional image and have credibility.

Spend the necessary time and attention on your business and you and your business will reap the benefits later.  View our Hypnotist Directory here.

Business Priorities and Your Daily Routine

Set Your Daily Business Priorities

As the owner of your hypnosis business, you wear many hats.  Even if you have a support team, it is very easy to get distracted and not accomplish your goals for the day.  The business owner’s main focus is to produce income.  If the task is not producing income, then it should become a secondary task or it should be outsourced or delegated.

One of the best ways I have worked to keep my focus is my master list.  I keep this master list that contains everything that comes to mind that I need to do.  That list is kind of a brain dump.  It helps me to write things down as I think of them.  It also helps me to cross things off after I’ve accomplished those tasks.

Every day, I choose the top five things I need to do.   It is so easy for you to get sidetracked with emergencies or other things that arise.  Even if you do have to stop for a short time, your top five list helps you to get your focus back on the daily action steps you need to accomplish.

One additional thing I do is to put the thing I want to do least (or that I’m dreading) at the top of the list.  Then I avoid procrastination and my day is much more productive.

I have made a simple Top Priority List for your day.   Enjoy and let me know your feedback!

Conventions and Continuing Education

There are many opportunities for continuing education for hypnosis.  Many hypnotists hold live workshops and sell online educational material for self-study, providing you with a certificate at the end and the facilitator with a lucrative business.  As you probably know, there are organizations that provide continuing education classes and workshops.

There are so many opportunities for us to grow and learn, but we must take some responsibility and use a business growth mindset to decide what will bring us the business of our dreams.  In addition to seeking information from these sources, start looking for information on your own that coincides with and develops your ideal business.  Use your own creativity and take charge of your future.  One of the great opportunities for learning and growing are conventions.

What are some Social Media sites I can use for my business?

Are you using social media to benefit your business?  Most people think immediately of FaceBook, but below is a more expanded list and a brief explanation of what they are.   Use social media for your hypnosis business success.

  • Facebook:  a popular free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues.   Features include:

    • Marketplace - allows members to post, read and respond to classified ads.
    • Groups - allows members who have common interests to find each other and interact.
    • Events  - allows members to publicize an event, invite guests and track who plans to attend.
    • Pages - allows members to create and promote a public page built around a specific topic.
    • Presence technology - allows members to see which contacts are online and chat.
  • Twitter:   a free social networking microblogging service that allows registered members to broadcast short posts called tweets.  A tweet is a post on twitter.  A hashtag is a tag used to categorize posts on Twitter (tweets) according to topics.
  • Instagram: a free, online photo sharing application and social network platform acquired by Facebook in 2012.
  • LinkedIn:  a social networking site designed specifically for the business community.  The goal of the site is to allow registered members to establish and document networks of people they know and trust professionally.
  • YouTube:  a free video-hosting website that allows members to store and serve video content.  YouTube members and website visitors can share YouTube videos on a variety of web platforms by using a link or embedding html code.
  • Reddit:  is an entertainment, social news networking service and news website.  Members can submit contents, such as text posts or direct links and then vote submissions up or down to organize the posts and determine the position on the site page.
  • Pinterest: an online pin board; a visual take on the social bookmarking site.  Content shared on Pinterest is driven entirely by visuals.
  • Tumblr: a microblogging platform and social networking website which allows users to post multimedia content and other content to a short-form blog.  Users can follow other blogs.
  • Google+: a social networking service from Google.
  • Meetup:  an online social networking service intended for people to organize and join group meetings in person.
  • Live Journal:  an online community, a social network and place for self-expression.
  • Ask.fm:  a site dedicated entirely to questions and answers.  Users ask a question or submit questions.  Users can post anonymously or with name attached to the contribution in text or video format.
  • Myspace: a social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music and videos.

If you want to close this post and start making a social media account for ALL the sites listed above, resist that temptation.  Facebook is full of pages that have a title and nothing else.  Social media is only effective if used well, so I suggest you start with one and get to know it before moving on to another.  There are also many companies and individuals who will develop social media for you, if your budget allows.

Based on the list and definitions above, make an intelligent choice as to the one you would like to begin with.  Instagram, for example, will require that you take photos or make pic files that have some kind of saying or pictures (or combination) on it.   If you have a great deal of weight loss clients, you could provide before and after photos.

The internet is filled with instructions on the use and ways in which they are used.  Take charge of your business today and make the most of this valuable, free resource for clients.

Short on time?  We can set up your social media sites.  Go to our support services pages for more information.

Creating Your Mission Statement

Do you need a hypnosis mission statement?  Would you go into business with a partner without a clear picture of what you were going to do?  Or of the roles you both would assume? Close your eyes and visualize your mission right now.

Your mission statement is a powerful business tool that is designed to state why your business exists.  Your mission statement should inspire you and your team's purpose, while being direct and focused to make important business decisions.  In addition, your mission statement should describe in detail your products and services to be delivered, the audience you deliver to and the issue(s) it solves.  Your company's mission statement should be concise and specific.  To create one, take some time to write down the answers to the following questions.

  • What do we do?
  • How do we do it?
  • Whom do we do it for?
  • Why do we do it?
  • What value are we bringing?
  • What issues are we addressing?

Your mission statement will help you to create the copy for your website, marketing materials and advertisements.

Additional questions that may help you create your mission statement.

  • Why does your hypnosis business exist in the first place? (Don't just say you want to help people; be more specific.)
  • What did you hope to accomplish when you first opened the doors?
  • Do you want to specialize in smoking cessation, do stage shows or present to large groups?
  • How will you deliver or present your hypnosis services?
  • Who will you be marketing to?  Individuals, groups, business owners?
  • What unique qualities, services or goods do you offer that potential clients can’t get from competitors?
  • What impact do you want to have?

Why should you create an e-book?  There are many reasons.

  • You can boost your credibility and establish yourself as an expert.
  • You could offer your e-book on your website in exchange for email addresses.   Write one on smoking cessation or self-hypnosis.
